Brilliant! Stupidity at its finest.

We all have bad days at work, but this must take the cake. A pilot on an Air Canada passenger jet got up from the cockpit for a bathroom break and locked himself out. It ended up that he and the flight crew had to break back into the cockpit by removing the door. According to an Air Canada spokesperson, "To the best of our knowledge, it's the first time we've encountered this problem in-flight." Great...so it is routine in training apparently. I have only one question. According to the article, the first officer was in the flight deck the entire time so why didn't he just open the door???????

Kevin Spacey does really good impersonations

I am a big fan of celebrity impersonations, so I really enjoyed Kevin Spacey's imitations on Inside the Actors Studio. Check it out. It's a 6 minute video and the audio goes out of sync a bit, but well worth watching.

Conan at the Emmy's

This is yet another reason why Conan O' Brien is one of the funniest late night comedians around. Check out this opening sketch from the 2006 Primetime Emmy's.

The fascination continues...

...Part 3 of a 3 part epic

So that restaurant that has been causing quite the furor in India has finally been renamed. "Hitler's Cross Restaurant" is now "The Cross Cafe." It's all kind of anti-climactic and disappointing, but thus ends the saga of India's most anti-Semitic restaurant.

Update!

The owner of the Indian restaurant named after Hitler, has decided that maybe it wasn't the greatest idea to name his eatery after the leader of the third reich. The signs have been covered up and are the owners are working on coming up with a name change and a new theme. Apparently, two names under consideration are Stalin Sandwich Shop and Pol's Pot Pies. We'll see how that goes.

SNL Star Wars Auditions

It's been a long week (yes it is only Wednesday) and I felt a little humor could make the week go better. I always enjoy celebrities doing impersonations of other celebs, so this video cracked me up:

Wow...

I guess this one can be filed under "to each his own." My good friend (who is from India) sent me this article about a new Hitler themed restaurant in downtown Mumbai, India (that's Bombay for all you who missed the name change memo). Both my friend and I were kind of dumb-founded by this article ... The article is worth a read, just to get to see the quotes of the proprietor. Read: India's Hitler-themed restaurant draws fire

Top 10 Unsportsmanlike Plays

Ahh sports...Too much testosterone can lead to some serious rage issues. What do you think of these top Top 10 Unsportsmanlike plays? I think ESPN could have done better. I think Zidane would certainly be up there with his headbutt if this Top 10 was redone today. I also think Vancouver Canucks forward Todd Bertuzzi's cheap shot on Steven Moore should be the number 1 most unsportsmanlike play of all time.

Working Hard?

From this month's Wired Magazine ... I am pretty sure I have seen some of my co-workers use these techniques ... Be sure to click that stapler on the left.

There’s an easy formula for becoming a slacker: Do nothing. Go get more coffee. Repeat. But how can you slack and still keep your job? It’s all about appearances. Dilbert creator Scott Adams lists low-impact ways to look like an overachiever.

Complain that you’re totally swamped at every opportunity. Use phrases like “up to my ass in alligators” and “jumping from one fire to another” to make your job sound kind of sexy and dangerous.

Carry a piece of paper wherever you go. To give yourself the necessary urgent facial expression and body language, imagine it’s something incredibly important, like a stay of execution from the governor.

Never clean your cubicle. After all, if you had any spare cycles you wouldn’t let yourself live like a pig.

Emailing looks like work. Email friends and family often.

If you feel like talking instead of working, talk to your boss. That counts as work no matter what you’re chatting about. The ideal topic of conversation is how poorly all of your coworkers are performing.

If you wear glasses, leave an old pair on the desk as though you will be right back. Then go home.

Leave voicemails for coworkers at 1:00 am, even if you’re getting up just to take a whiz. If you really want to inspire awe, leave a message for your boss with your thoughts on the company’s outdated filing system at 11:30 pm on New Year’s Eve.

Be sure to get involved in unquantifiable projects. You want to be doing a lot of consulting and advising and attending. Avoid anything with a hard and fast deadline.

Learn to sleep with your back to the cubicle entrance. You’ll have to practice to keep your head from slumping over, but it’s worth it. If you can’t pull that off, try a neck brace painted the same color as your skin.

Bitch about your job as much as possible. This is considered work even though it’s fun.
